Opera Goes To Market
September 2011
As the recipient of a generous grant from the Free For All Concert Fund, BOC presented three concerts at farmers' markets around the Boston area - South Station, Ashmont/Dorchester, and Harvard Square. Each concert incorporated well-known arias and duets into the program, to the delight of market goers and vendors alike.
Falstaff Pre-Show Lecture and Talk-Back

Several cast members joined directors Heidi Lauren Duke and Mischa Santora for a successful chat with the audience about the intricate and rewarding process of putting an opera like Falstaff on its feet. Additionally, Doctor Helen Greenwald of New England Conservatory gave an intriguing lecture entitled "Verdi and Comedy".
Festa Della Republica Italiana
May 2011
BOC participated in this year's Festa della Republica Italiana at the Christopher Columbus park in Boston's North End. Three of our artists entertained the crowd with arias and duets from the standard operatic repertoire, including selections by Rossini, Mozart, Puccini, and Gluck.
O Soave Fanciulla: Puccini's Alluring Ladies

BOC produced an all-Puccini concert, featuring four of our own sopranos, in conjunction with an exhibit at the Dante Alighieri Society highlighting the life and works of Giacomo Puccini. The exhibit was organized and sponsored by the the Associazione Lucchesi nel Mondo, Boston chapter.
Shakespeare Slam

BOC participated in the annual Shakespeare Slam in Harvard Square, Cambridge, MA, where local theater and arts organizations gather each spring to celebrate the Bard through performance.

Each year, BOC presents a concert featuring our newest member artists. This past year, we partnered with the Museum of Modern Renaissance in Davis Square to present a delightful evening of famous arias and duets.
The Cunning Little Vixen Pre-Show
Lecture and Talk-Back

Musicologist Laura Prichard gave an insightful pre-show lecture entitled "Janacek's fantasy world: 1920s comics and how they inspired The Cunning Little Vixen (1923)." BOC also organized its first post-show talkback, during which audience members chatted with the artistic staff and cast members about the creative process and their experiences working on this particular opera.
An Evening of Slavic Vocal Music

Our first collaboration with the Museum of Modern Renaissance, BOC artists presented an all-Slavic music concert, programming works from the Czech, Russian and Ukrainian repertoire, including composers such as Tchaikovsky, Dvorak, and Britten.
