Andrew Ryker, director

Stage director Andrew Ryker's productions have been called both "austere and moving" (The Boston Phoenix) and "sweet as a cream puff" (The Boston Globe). He has served on the directing staff at Opera New Jersey and Opera North in addition to directing productions for New England Conservatory, Boston Opera Collaborative and the Intermezzo Chamber Opera Series. Andrew was previously on the faculty at Walnut Hill School for the Arts as well as Illinois Central College and recently gave a master class at Boston Arts Academy. He is currently a teaching fellow at New England Conservatory and the Artistic Director of Boston Opera Collaborative.

A versatile vocalist, Andrew has been heard with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Boston Pops, College Light Opera Company, New England Conservatory Opera Theatre, and Trinity Church in addition to recital appearances in the United States and Europe. He received his master's degree from New England Conservatory and was the recipient of the Goldovsky Directing Internship at the Harrower Opera Workshop in Atlanta. Andrew has been featured in Classical Singer Magazine and his production of Curlew River was named Boston's "Best Staged Opera" of the year by Lloyd Schwartz of The Boston Phoenix.
