Angela Henstra, an American soprano of “enormous expressive sensitivity and fascinating gestures” (Fidenza Libertà, July 2008) made her European debut this past summer as Pamina in Die Zauberflöte in Italy. Ms. Henstra returns to the New England stage this fall performing the role of La Ciesca in Gianni Schicchi with Boston Opera Collaborative and First Lady in Once Upon an Opera, an original children's opera, with Opera del West. Ms. Henstra is also delighted to make her debut with Fiddlehead Theatre in their fall production of Oliver!

In 2007, Ms. Henstra was seen as Madame Lidoine in Dialogues of the Carmelites and the Marschallin in Der Rosenkavalier. Other roles include: Die Fledermaus (Ida), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Cobweb), and The Gondoliers (Giulia) at The Boston Conservatory; the world premiere of Trey Veet Detective and the Curse on the High C’s (Angie) with OperaWorks in Los Angeles; and Le Marriage aux Lanterns (Catherine) and Les Bavards (Torribio, Baracol) with Intermezzo Young Artists Program. Ms. Henstra has been featured as a soloist with the Longwood Opera Summer Concert Series; The Choral Art Society of Scituate, MA; Old Ship Parish in Hingham, MA and First Parish of Brookline, MA.

Ms. Henstra graduated from The Boston Conservatory in 2006 with a M.M. in Vocal Performance and currently studies with Rebecca Folsom.
