Emily Burr, soprano

Coloratura soprano, Emily Burr received her Master’s Degree in Vocal Performance in 2007 from the New England Conservatory. During the summer of 2007 Ms. Burr made her Boston Opera Collaborative (BOC) debut appearing as Sister Constance in Dialogues of the Carmelites with Metropolitan Opera director Marc Astafan and world renowned coach and conductor Michael Strauss. Continuing her work with Boston Opera Collaborative this summer, Emily will be performing the role of Pamina in Mozart’s beloved The Magic Flute.

Ms. Burr’s extensive list of roles includes the First Witch in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas for Weston OperaFest in February of 2008; Emily in Menotti’s Help, Help the Globolinks in New England Conservatory’s Outreach Opera; Leonora in John Duke’s Captain Lovelock with the New England Conservatory Opera Theater. She has performed Madame Goldentrill in Mozart’s The Impresario with Rimrock Opera in Billings, Montana, Miss Silverpeal in The Impresario with Spokane Opera in Spokane, Washington, and the Second Lady in The Magic Flute with the University of Montana.

Ms. Burr has performed partial roles including, among others, Adele, Adina, Blondchen, Chlorinda, Dorine, Gretel, Ruth Putnam, Servilia, and Sophie with the New England Conservatory, Boston Opera Collaborative and the University of Montana.

As a concert artist, Ms. Burr has performed as the soprano soloist for the Fox Theater Open House Showcase in conjunction with Spokane Opera, the Boston Opera Collaborative’s Inaugural Gala, in the WaterFire Festival in Providence, Rhode Island, and Vivaldi’s Gloria with the Butte Symphony Orchestra. She was the cover for New England Conservatory’s production of Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana. During the summer of 2008 Ms. Burr will reprise the soprano solos in Carmina Burana with the famed Masterworks Chorale in Lexington, Massachusetts.

A native of Spokane, Washington, Emily received her Bachelor of Music Degree magna cum laude from the University of Montana, Missoula where she studied with Anne Basinski. Currently Ms. Burr is a student of Carole Haber.
