  <bio>&#8220;Visually and vocally stunning&#8221; American Soprano, Kathryn McKellar, is quickly establishing a sterling reputation for her &#8220;beautiful vocal quality, sensitive musicianship, and excellent connection to her text.&#8221;  Her 2007-08 season included appearances as Pamina in {Die Zauberfl&#246;te} with Operatunity Performing Arts Center, Dorinda in Handel&#8217;s {Orlando} with the Bay Area Summer Opera Theater, Lauretta in {Gianni Schicchi} with Boston Opera Collaborative, and Gretel in {Hansel and Gretel} with Opera Del West.  Kathryn will begin the new year performing in Boston Opera Collaborative&#8217;s production of {Alcina} (Handel) as Oberto and in the company&#8217;s 2009 Gala Concert.  June of 2009 will see her in her first title role in OperaHub&#8217;s dramatically innovative production of {L&#8217;Incoronazione di Poppea}.

The 2007-08 season also saw Kathryn as recitalist in Voyage a Paris-Songs and Arias inspired by the "City of Light&#8221; premiered in Cambridge at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and as a soloist in Diva Day Inc.&#8217;s inaugural benefit concert raising funds for Jane Doe Inc, the Massachusetts Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault.

In the fall of 2007, Kathryn was seen as Josephine in {H.M.S.Pinafore} with the MIT Gilbert and Sullivan Society, and as the Second Lady in {Die Zauberfl&#246;te} with OperaHub.  The Texas native originated the role of Blanch July 2007 in the world premiere of {My Other, MySelves} with OperaWorks in Los Angeles.  Among other recent engagements, Ms. McKellar performed in Boston Opera Collaborative scenes program {Making a Scena} as Carolina ({Il Matrimonio Segretto}), The Boston Conservatory's production of {L'elisir d'amore} covering Adina and {Le Nozze di Figaro} covering La Contessa.  Kathryn has been featured in concert and opera programs throughout Boston, including The Boston Conservatory, The Brookline Chorus, Berklee School of Music, The Boston Opera Collaborative, and was a 2006 winner of the Conservatory's Chamber Music Honors Competition. 

In 2005, she graduated summa cum laude from Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia, where she performed frequently with the University's Opera Studio, Hollins University Opera Outreach, the Hollins Repertory Dance Company, the American College Dance festival, and in recital and concert works throughout the greater Roanoke area. Kathryn continues to perform concert, recital, and oratorio works in and around her hometown of Dallas. In addition to her performances in the States, Ms. McKellar has studied and performed throughout Italy with the Spoleto Vocal Arts Symposia, Accademia Internazionale della Musica, as well as Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi. Kathryn is also active in new music, dance, and film score recordings, and is featured in some of Boston&#8217;s newest film projects.
