Natalie Polito, soprano

[No picture available]
Soprano Natalie Polito, hailed as “one of the finest young sopranos in Greater Boston” by The Patriot Ledger, is currently in high demand throughout New England. This July, Ms. Polito is thrilled to return to a favorite role, the sassy chambermaid Adele in Die Fledermaus with Opera By the Bay. In February of 2009, she makes her role debut as Rosalinda (Die Fledermaus) with Opera del West. This summer, she will be featured in a number of concerts and recitals with the Duxbury Music Festival, Longwood Opera, and New England Light Opera. In November, she will reprise her role as the Queen of the Night (Die Zauberflöte), in Opera del West's original children's opera.

In November, Ms. Polito gave a highly acclaimed performance as Violetta (La Traviata) with Opera By the Bay. The Patriot Ledger called it "a radiant performance...Polito proves a revelation as Violetta. Her arias are rich with resonance and strong phrasing. She captures all of the bounce and energy of the early partygoer and the contrasting weariness and growing despair of the bedridden heroine of the later going."

In 2007, Ms. Polito was selected for the prestigious Intermezzo Young Artist Program, where she sang her signature role, the Queen of the Night (Die Zauberflöte), under the direction of David Grabarkewitz of New York City Opera. Her other recent operatic highlights have included Donna Anna (Don Giovanni) with Boston Opera Collaborative, Elettra (Idomeneo) with Opera Hub and the Sebastian Chamber Players, the title role in Boston Opera Collaborative's Iphigénie en Aulide, Adele (Die Fledermaus) at The Boston Conservatory, the Female Quartet in the New England premiere of Marc Adamo's Little Women, and Sister Claire (Dialogues of the Carmelites) at the Chicago Cultural Center. Partial roles performed by Ms. Polito include Sophie (Der Rosenkavalier), Baby Doe (The Ballad of Baby Doe), Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte), Elvira (I Puritani), Cunegonde (Candide), Ännchen (Der Freischütz), and Marzelline (Fidelio). Ms. Polito is honored to have been a frequent collaborator with the Boston Gay Men's Chorus, most recently in New England Conservatory's historic Jordan Hall, as the soprano soloist in David Conte's Hymn to the Nativity, and in 2007 as the soprano soloist in the Boston premiere of Kris Anthony's When We No Longer Touch.

Originally from Chicago, Illinois, Ms. Polito holds an M.M. in Vocal Performance from The Boston Conservatory and a B.M. in Vocal Performance with honors from Northwestern University.
