Sara Ann Mitchell, soprano

Sara Ann Mitchell is a soprano from Tulsa, Oklahoma, and currently resides in Boston, Massachusetts. Ms. Mitchell feels equally at home on the opera stage or concert stage, and is always eager for new and unique opportunities to perform. She has developed a keen interest in many genres of music, and loves performing new works.

Most recently, Sara Ann performed with Juventas New Music Group for the Fierce Concert Series, where she received rave reviews for her performance of Isaac Schankler’s Sharp. In July, 2008, Sara Ann performed the role of Papagena in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte with Boston Opera Collaborative. Ms. Mitchell was the featured soprano soloist for Quincy Choral Society’s Berstein Birthday Bash in May, 2008. In February, she performed the title role of Jeanette in Yes, Yes, Jeanette!, a world premiere operetta with New England Light Opera. She has also worked with Opera Providence, and was a featured soprano soloist at Waterfire. Ms. Mitchell has performed various opera and operetta roles, including; the Dewfairy in Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel, and Gianetta and Patience in a Gilbert and Sullivan Revue with the University of Oklahoma’s Opera Theatre. With the New England Conservatory’s Opera Theatre, Sara Ann has performed roles such as; Bellezza in Cavalli’s L’Egisto, Nellie Ewell in Lee Hoiby’s Summer and Smoke, Eurydice (cover) in Darius Milhaud’s Les Malheur d’Orphée, and Pernille in Dan Shore’s one-act The Beautiful Bridegroom.
