Chelsea Beatty, a native of Northern California, is a versatile young artist currently working in Boston. Her recent portrayal of Mary Warren in Boston Opera Collaborative’s The Crucible garnered critical praise as “a breath of fresh air” whose “musicality and stage presence won me over entirely” (Boston Theater Review). She was also highlighted as a cast standout who “sung with substance and acted with clarity” (Boston Globe). In the summer of 2009, she had the pleasure of portraying Violetta in Act II of La Traviata in her European debut at the historic Magnani Theater in Fidenza, Italy. Other recent roles include Belinda in Dido and Aeneas and Flora in The Turn of the Screw. She has been featured as a soloist with Juventas! New Music Ensemble and The Boston Conservatory Chorale. In September, she made her operatic directing debut with Diva Day Foundation’s Too Many Sopranos. Ms. Beatty is a graduate of The Boston Conservatory and a student of Patty Thom. She looks forward to upcoming engagements with BOC, Opera Hub, MetroWest Opera and Juventas! New Music Ensemble.
