Roxanna Myhrum likes to collaborate. A graduate of Harvard University, she works with numerous artists, scholars, and non-profit organizations throughout the Boston area. Her theatrical training began at a young age at The Drama Studio in Springfield, MA where she studied a variety of acting techniques, performance genres, and movement styles (including puppetry, which she continues to use extensively in her work today). After directing classical plays and operettas in college, she discovered her love of opera when she assistant directed and choreographed the BOC production of Hansel and Gretel. The following summer she collaborated with BOC founding members Katie Drexel and Brooke Larimer to write The Countess of Seville, an adaptation of the Beaumarchais Figaro Trilogy. The show debuted under her stage direction in October 2007.
Ms. Myhrum was elected to the BOC Board of Directors in 2008, where she has dedicated herself to expanding the organization's presence in the community. To date she has worked on the production crew for eight BOC performances, most recently directing Rossini's La Cambiale di Matrimonio at BOC's Second Annual Gala.
Roxanna’s current theatrical projects include directing the premier of The Hourglass for Juventas! New Music Ensemble, and developing an NIH-commissioned play about evolution for the Underground Railway Theater.
Ms. Myhrum is extremely grateful to BOC for providing her with the opportunity to learn more about the power and contemporary relevance of opera, and is in awe of the multi-talented singers who hold this company together.
